Getting There

Road description: We go from Tauplitz over the Alpenstreet where You have to pay a Road Charge (9.50 euro / car, there is only a group reduction) up to the highest Seaplateau of Europe. We have divided the 6-Sea-Hiking into two days because the Paths are very wide and – nevertheless – we wanted to enjoy the breathtaking scenery with the constant view at the Dachsteinglacier.

From the Parking space we start on the Forest road and go on the left up in the direction to Tauplitzlake. Shortly before the skiing lift – at the Hotel Steirerhof – You can take a cliffy Forest Road which leads You directly to the Lake. We have tried it with the help of our Rope and three helping People – and it all went very well! There are many places where You can relax – do not forget Your Swimming clothes.

Then we pass the Tauplitzlake (this one was not as impressing as we thought it would be) and then we pass the “Naturfreundhaus”. Frome here it goes slightly downhill on the left side to the Grazerhut. Here we make a short stop and drink a buttermilk. With new strength we to further to the Steirerlake over a flat Forest road. A Path branches off on the left Side to the Steirerlakeview. Please do not forget to take this Way – it is a place where You can get a lot of strength and enjoy an amazing View! With the Wheelchair we could take the Way with our Rope and three People helping.

We keep going to the Steirerlakealp. Here we make a stop and get some amazing food! Unfortunately, we could not get to the Lake with the Wheelchair, everyone else could reach it over a Forest road.

Afterwards we take the same Path back to the Parking space.
